.....but if you want another example, how about a subluxated rib? I've been to the TMC with it when I was younger, my PCP later in life, and it still occasionally happens. The first time it happened, I thought I had broken a rib(s). I can guarantee you it hurts, a chiropractor can manipulate it and it doesn't hurt anymore.....so, again, I stand by my original statement.

As someone who was walking around with bacteremia and a ruptured bursa and then confined to a hospital bed for a week and a half and then further stuck with carrying IV pump 24/7 that pushed nafcillin and I forget the other antibiotic for 12 weeks into an artery @ my biceps and over to my heart, and then in order for my PT to begin, I had to be sedated and have my "shoulder manipulated because it was literally frozen. They could not manipulate it while I was concious", I feel highly qualified to disagree with his statement that I directly quoted. This was not gradual and was a single procedure......then my PT could begin, because prior to that the shoulder was frozen.

So, I find his very broad statement asinine and incorrect. It's just that simple.

Edit: FWIW, I had multiple strains of staph in my blood, had bronchitis that was again turning to pneumonia, and had coughed one of the biventricular pacemaker leads loose ( I didn't know this was the cause. I thought the high fevers were causing me to pass out).
Anyway, I passed out walking across the den ( it felt like God had flushed toilet on my world), and I crashed into what was my great-grandmother's rocking chair. Shoulder into rocking chair until it rammed into the wall...you get the picture of how the bursa ruptured. I'm a tad wide and was lodged in a hospital bed the following day for an extended period of time and then pretty immobile after release from hospital with the IV pump lines in the bad arm.
There's a whole bunch more I could list, but I'm tired of typing.
What you said about your sedated shoulder manipulation is in complete agreement with my intent AG. Yup, you had a frozen shoulder that would not respond to therapy (that is you would not regain a lot of ROM) and you needed sedation or to be completely out. That’s how it works, first a manipulation then the therapy begins.

I see what you are saying about FK’s statement, but there is a long history of distrust that PTs have with chiropractors in terms of what they say they can “manipulate or adjust” that does not relate to the spine so I kind of possibly see where he was coming from. I don’t think Fk was thinking in terms of what you and I agree on which requires sedation.

He manipulates where the rib forms a joint on the spine. But yes, you are correct. Rib subluxations really are painful & that is a manipulation.

And when you manipulate the spine, you are manipulating intervertebral joints.
You could also manipulate a dislocated finger or a shoulder that has been dislocated as well. So as you stated, as a blanket statement, FK was in error, agreed .

Yup, females really are put in a tough position for the sake of appearance. A “large top” really reeks havoc on posture, same with high heels. We’ve had a few friends get reductions, I think many or most times insurance now covers that surgery.

Not to make light of the conversation, I wish insurance would reduce my man-boobs, but they don’t jeopardize my physical health.

Oh, I agree with y'all PTs distrust of the.....I don't know what word to use?......."play- pimper chiropractor".

For instance, the combo chiropractor/reflexologist types. They push on my ankle and it fixes my sinuses.....um, an emphatic NO! The ones that have a premade treatment schedule for regular adjustments before even examining me....nope, I'm out of the there!

Personally, I've had the best results been I went to a practice that has a chiropractor worked at the direction of physical therapist/ doctor of physical therapy.

For me, finding a good chiro is like finding a good massage therapist.....or even a good PT. If you have a good one appreciate them. They are awesome!!

I was fortunate after I had to fire my last PT practice because the case manager/office manager just got sorry as sh!t. On the plus side, I met my current PT and she kind of indirectly (emailed me) and let me know things weren't being handled right and she was leaving that practice. She didn't try to pressure me to go where I ended up, just mentioned place and the whole group is awesome. I didn't know that was where she was headed to because she didn't want to influence my decision....that's just how she is. We still stay in contact weekly or so. She's a serious crossfitter/ strength athlete fan.

I would've ended up cutting the other PT practice anyway; I caught the case manager lying to me about being in touch with my neurosurgeon and still have it documented.

But anyway, good conversation, Wango. Happy Holidays to you and the Mrs.!

Well, time for me to take this crazy @ss beagle mix for a walk. She'll want to smell all over our land and deer drive her crazy.

Speaking of deer, I got 2 on the way home from work about 0200-ish. Hit one with the right side of the bumper and one on the left side of the bumper/left fender.

I did make sure they were dead and not lying there slowly dying off before I picked up random pieces of my truck and continued home.

There's a Christian pastor up on YouTube who goes out on the street and tells people they have one leg an inch shorter than the other, and then he prays to Jesus:

I think you guys should just ditch the chiropractors and cardiologists and just show up at Todd White's church.

Can’t speak for you AG, but I definitely got shorted. But hey, we’re alive & kicking (to a certain degree at least, lol), so I’m still smiling.

Hey thanks for the good wishes to me and the wife, you and I both are very fortunate in that department. A life-long love is pretty much like hitting the lottery. Best wishes right back at you and Mrs. AG.

Yes wear killer heels. Always have! Still do but less with Covid telework. In the office tomorrow, out come the heels!

Yes definitely smaller thru hips and thighs with less breast tissue now at goal.
I had scoliosis when I had nothing!
My father had scoliosis same side.

Had deep tissue massage today. She was awesome and noticed pronounced back hump. She KNEW without asking I have a HIGH TOLERANCE for pain. That’s a curse!

Thanks for your response to inversion table. I’m going to hold off. I’m going thru a purge and wishing to adopt minimalistic approach!

Thank you, GGR! Believe it or. not 2006-2008 were very challenging. But I'm still here, so it's one of two things:

    1) My grandmother always told told me I was put here for a reason
    or....
    2) My grandfather always said for every positive there's a negative, lol.

    Back day yesterday:

Supported smith rows: 3 working 10 ish reps. Pulling some good weight on these. Love this movement anymore.
Close grip pulldowns: 3 or 4 working: 8-12 reps. Strict and upright.
Low cable rows on down angled bench: 3 sets 12-15 reps
Behind back shrugs: 3 sets 15 ish reps with RP on last.

Fried me. Back work has been great lately. Feels like progress.

ps: Had both knees shot with Zilretta last week. Next day feels like brand new. Simply amazing. Then hip shot with regular cortisone two days ago on Thursday. Basically changing the oil....

Another guy showing off ^^^. Look at me, I can get in a normal workout .

After I finish this coffee I’m going to try to make our bed. Lifting the damn mattress to tuck the sheet in is the equivalent of deadlifting 500 pounds and takes me 3-4 days to recover. If I really am going for an HIT day, I’ll tackle unloading the dishwasher after. The pump that I get in my Delts and triceps putting the dishes onto the higher shelves is massive. That said, advil is generally needed afterwards.

All kidding aside, congrats Kel and I can identify with the night & day effect of having no joint pain; their’ s nothing like it.

Wait a sec, it’s Christmas this week? 2021 is almost over? Did I hit some time warp or something?

Been slaving on house. Painted nine rooms, selected shingles for new roof, purchased some used furniture (new buy is huge pain with long lead times), dishwasher & garage disposal installed and arranged for plaster repair.

Had visions of going to gym - ha - too busy! Did squeeze in 2 beach days - very nice!!!
Time to get back to work…and gym!!

Only 2 weeks in and I’m reminded on how much of a sexy monster I am. Did arms and it looks like a Clydesdale war horse lost its horse shoes on the back of my arms, biceps are looking like I got a mini great lakes Christmas ale kegs strapped to my arms. Popeye forearms naturally so gripping builds em up enough. Workouts are a rubix cube of pure annihilation

I still don’t have my smell back 100% and it’s been 6 months. Was about 1 month of being in a foggy dream with fatigue.

It’s Feb 1st! Started the core challenge!

I’m missing my home gym and regular gym. Closest one which I have membership for is 20 min one way. Seems like a lot of driving. Telework is making me weak. lol

Finally...finally.....finally!!! I tracked down my massage therapist. She's been tied up with caregiving duties a senile grandmother and 2 of her children had the dreaded virus.

Anyway, 90 minutes of deep tissue work booked for tomorrow!!! I have a terrible knot of tissue knotted up at the area of the trap, infraspinatus, and teres major ( I think).

Believe it came from compensating for the bad arm for so long, but not positive about that. Anyway, I am looking forward to it!!!!
