If you have discovered a low platelet count it can be from various different causes.
I'm going to assume if it a suspected issue the physicians will analyze the reticulocyte count in a blood sample to first determine if your body, the bone marrow, is producing immature red cells and platelets. If it is, it is a possible autoimmune issue that may, or may not, need a remedy. Also, if the reticulocyte count is normal it may be an issue with maturing platelets.
To be honest, these issues generally are idiopathic, and transient, with some cases that may require corticosteroids for a period of time as a first-time treatment.
Rare diseases like Evan's syndrome can happen, but those would include an unsafe, quick drop in your platelet count as opposed to a steady trend.
Follow up is necessary to spot those trends though. And I'm glad everyone in here is monitoring themselves as often and as well as you all are.

That link is discussing a high platelet count.
If your personal count is low, it may be due to the acquired absence of your spleen, which can have an effect on the maturity of platelets and, subsequently, a lower count.
A doc would be able to tell you if its worth worrying about. Some people have a "new normal" after a pranceatectomy, which is completely normal.
Keep an eye on the trend. Steady numbers are what you'll want to see, might be low compared to someone with a pancreas, but otherwise its healthy if they're steady.

Mine are elevated - through not having a spleen - reasons being I had to donate back east but out here they're much more strict even w/a therapeutic phlebotomy...
Since my splenectomy I've had elevated platelets and monocytes - I'm waiting for my labs to come in... I know having a splenectomy can and will elevate them both - also, as Kel stated it can be due to anxiety and stress both of which I have problems with!
I'm thinking w/both <3 together wouldn't help my situation much

I didn't see this Kel. Great post.
Also, Nach, sometimes after surgery, especially the spleen, your body undergoes "Reactive thrombocytosis", which is usually very sudden and deliberate (around a week or so after surgery), however not always. And these increased levels can become a simple indicator of post procedural states, which are typically of no concern if they are not exacerbated.

Grabbed a resource Nach, and it indicates that in a patient who underwent a splenectomy under the age of 40, will most likely have a deficiency with antibody-coated platelet destruction.
Meaning that you will most likely have a higher normal range due to the fact that your body and immune system is not as adept at destroying older platelets. Hopefully for now, that provides you with some solace.

Thx - Maybe that's why the docs never said anything about it... Shit I was just happy to be alive at that point - I saw the same age numbers as well
I'll just keep watching my numbers, etc - they've stayed pretty elevated(or right around the same number - I just read how I was pretty much 'reactive' also, leading to my auto immune deficiency or having a compromised immune system - due to the splenectomy... I have a tough time fighting off infections etc

Shoulders today
Watched a couple YT vids prior to for some motivation.
Mil press 2 feeler, 1 work, 2 drop
DB presses, 2 feeler, 1 work, 1 drop
Seated rev flies sup/set w/ rev pec deck, 1 feeler each, 1 work each.
BB shrugs, 2 work

35min, done.
Was spent at the end. Kept playing the vids over in my mind. At the end of the workout, I felt really good about what I did. Really felt that I achieved some true failure today.

@Sfla - it's always that way lol - once you get em there then it's I want em like this now etc etc lolol I totally get ya!
@Odin - nice session... Seems you have the basics down well! Looking forward to seeing you grow w/all of us!
I don't know about 2 presses w/shoulders tho... I did this for some time and now I couldn't go w/2 presses in a session... Some can - with HIT and failure + beyond it's tough to do... Try going all out on your first press w/shoulders next time... Or pre-exhaust(just do your reg w/o backwards) lateral raises - front raises, rears, MP, shrugs) - just something to think about(from a different aspect)... great job brother! Keep doing what your doing - well done brother!
