Pretty good visit at the physical medicine practice today.
Deep tissue work to get my left scapula and shoulder lying even with my back and other scapula. There's was about a 3 " gap between my back and the table on the bad arm side. Also some pretty heavy work on my pecs, particularly my left pec ( I was compensating for the lack of shoulder and arm power. Some trigger point injections, and a very good manipulation by the chiropractor. I literally think I'm back closer to 6' 2" tall now.
Still waiting for my MRI appointment. Think they are prioritizing the worst cases due to a reduced staff and COVID-19?
Edit: If I can figure out how to strip the x-rays from the report, I'll post them up.Last edited by almostgone; 03-27-2020 at 12:14 PM.

Going to try something this may not work. The image on the left hand side is a "normal" person. Sorry for the thumbnail images, but I'm working off my phone.
Anyway, y'all get the general idea of why I haven't been as actively lifting, but I think these people will be able to rectify some of the issues. The left shoulder ( will be on right hand side of my image) has been through some rough times over the years.
My neck is all jacked up from compensating and holding up my big ass head.
Not sure what that blob is in the background on the front shot of my spine. Think it's a little low for my heart, lol, but whatever it is, it's enlarged, too. ')Last edited by almostgone; 03-27-2020 at 08:09 PM.

I’m just looking at the side of your neck and the shot of your shoulder. Joint wise they look good to me at least. You don’t want bone touching bone & I don’t see it. Please take that with a grain of salt though, K?

I think it was the pointing of the vertebrae and the disc space is minimal at one point. It's hard to see a lot of detail with these thumbnail images.
Also my neck doesn't have the healthy curve like the "normal" one. Mine is kind of straight and pulled in tight. I "think" that is where the nerve pressure is coming from.
I wish I could strip the full size pics out for you to look at Prox. The shoulder is just the result of the nerve problem, but it is the one that had the ruptured bursa in '07 and got tangled up is a stray line during a repelling fiasco and pulled out of joint. It's just got the arthritis you would expect in someone of my mileage.
The nerve seems to be the main cause, but I still have an MRI coming up and an appointment with orthopedic surgeon just to make sure the soft tissue is on fair shape. I still literally can't curl 5 lbs. with that arm. I can hold a good bit of weight at arm's length like if you were in the top portion of a dead. Very frustrating. On the plus side my upper/ mid back was in good condition.
Here's the synopsis:
Report of Findings Review:
The diagnosis of your condition is Cervical Radiculopathy (Pinched Nerves). The injury and the pain you are feeling is coming from the structural pressure on those nerves. This pressure is due, primarily, to 5 contributing factors.
5 Components:
Some of the muscles around your spine have become too tight, which is creating damaging pressure and stress. This not only causes irritation to your spine, but also causes your spine to degenerate and decay. Your spine absorbs most of its nutrients through movement. If the muscles restrict motion, then the spine will not get what it needs and degenerate faster than it should.
You have Trigger Points, which are like knots, located within those muscles that create pain and cause your muscles to remain in an ongoing state of tension. Left there long enough, they can change permanently into scar tissue.
Some of your spinal joints have become misaligned and locked. Improper alignment causes your spine to degenerate and decay. It also irritates and damages the nearby nerves that exit your spine at each level.
There is nerve and disc irritation. Any interference with normal nerve function affects the normal communication from your brain to your body, along with your body’s ability to heal.
These stresses have caused damaging swelling or inflammation in and around that disc. Inflammation is an important part of the early stage of healing. But, if it persists and becomes chronic, it will cause excessive scar tissue and create more pain.
To review, your muscles and joints are placing pressure on disc and nerve tissue. This pressure is damaging that tissue and causing your symptoms.
Edit: I'm really looking forward to the radiology report. Hopefully the popping noise and bruising I got pressing last week wasn't another issue. I was doing Kel's side straddle one arm Smith presses with just the bar to flush vsome blood through and then a weird pop that sounded like a rubber band being snapped against a newspaper. About 35 minutes later some moderate bruising started?
It's all too real.
Edit:
I still have the results from my previous NCV study. I'm really hoping for an improvement when the next one is done. Possibly an EMG is in the future depending on progress?Last edited by almostgone; 03-27-2020 at 11:02 PM.

Where’s the bruising? Dude, if your delt is out of commission, you don’t want to be pressing that much weight. Could have torn a rotator cuff tendon, maybe a little bit of the long head of biceps (contributes with shoulder motion in pressing), maybe some of your delt. Where’s the bruising / swelling? Any new point tenderness that would be unique to just this.

Honestly, I think it was just a bit of scar tissue? I iced it and the bruising was very minimal.
Focusing on legs and abs for a while. Neck, traps and l. arm feel better overall than before appointment at physical med.
I did get my lightweight bands out and as soon as they start on PT I'll limit myself to band work. If I do any curling w/ left arm, it will be very light Thera band curls or baby dbell curls with arm supported on the back of an incline bench.
Probably just work the right at the most for now.
Plenty of work to do on legs and today I noticed my ROM is a bit better. Much easier to get my grip on my squat bar.

Decent, buddy.
Just paying some bills and getting ready to unwrap some extra meds I ordered. Blood pressure, antibiotics, etc.
Did my therapy exercises earlier. The whole time I'm thinking there should be some f-in plates and bars involved in this shit.
On the plus side, my shoulder pains seem to be less. They did some trigger point injections Friday, buy they've long been out of my system.
Another appointment tomorrow for some therapy, injections, and adjustments.
How about you? Have you completely redone your house yet? There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

T. So fortunate your family and cat is safe. Seems not hearing anything about those conditions and uprising in US. I sensed frustration for past year so a change was needed. It’s amazing you dwelled for 6 years in neighborhood and So glad you all safe.
Clarky oh my on wedding! I would prob run off and get married and have a celebration party later!! Hope everything works out
AG. Got some healing to do. Interesting read on conditions. Thx for sharing. I have structural issues and never considered nerve damage. Thinks you need to rest body and train differently.
ProX. If you are working out, hopefully recovered!
Kelkel - healthy! Awesome

Triceps & some light delts. Higher reps around 15, super sets and drop sets to bump up the intensity. Got an ultimate dumbbell set-up now - a pair of 5 and 10 pounders to go along with the bands. Holy cow I’m squared away .
Exercising in the backyard with a bunch of squirrels and doves looking at me strangely. Occasionally a hawk stops by to see if I’ve dropped dead yet.

You all work out today? High rep bicep/triceps today. Supersets, 15-25 reps to failure, 4 exercises each. Threw in some delts for fun. Pasta & salmon for dinner.
My “beard” looks like crap; gone tomorrow with all of this fur growing on my arms, shoulders and back.

The only way I can get it to come with a decent flavor and texture is to cook on it on the grill, but I have to stay right there with it. There's a fine line between food and failure with salmon. If the skin isn't on the salmon, it's destined to be an epic failure.
Steelhead and salmon are excellent when done right!!There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

Needed some good news.
Down 18 lbs in about 3 1/2 mo. Into skinny jeans and skirts.
eating lots of food vs starving. switched into 2 meal plan with intermittent fasting and this was game changer for me. hungry for late breakfast and hungry for dinner.
Losing 15 more is lot likely. Dr prefers lose only 5 more and switch to maintenance and working out.
Self tanning was a nice add today!
