That's funny but so true Prox. Look up Guy Cisterino on IG (IFBB Pro) and watch about a 10 minute video he posted yesterday. It relates perfectly about the aches and pains of the simple things in life. Let me know if you do!
ps: Don't they say to avoid advil right now due to the pandemic?

I think I have to sign up for IG to see it, will try to do that later.
Sorry for the mini lecture:
Advil is anti-inflammatory medication. The inflammation process is an important first step to protect you in most cases. The redness and heat (think of a sore throat with a cold or flu) is caused by extra blood, but that blood is carrying extra white blood cells, which are the first responders of your immune system. The warmth is good because it makes the wbc’s more aggressive and actually makes any germs less so. This is also why an initial fever with its increased body temperature is helpful as well. This would be the normal physiology for ANY cold or flu virus. And when push comes to shove, Covid-19 is a flu, but a very bad-ass one at that.
However, pain, swelling and extra mucous production that are also part of the inflammatory process aren’t pleasant, so that’s typically why you pop an Advil. I actually have an article (about 5 years old now) that I would normally break out every year for my anatomy class right around flu season (when I cover the immune system). It’s at school now, and I pullled it from the Los Angeles Times. It essentially said when you had a cold or flu, STAY AT HOME. The medications that you take make you think that you feel better which allows you to go on with your day to day life and subsequently spread your illness to others & could reduce the initial response of your immune system (inflammation).
If you encounter this particular virus, I can’t believe Advil or no Advil will make a bit of difference in terms of whether you actually get sick or not. I did a quick article search and if there wasn’t much solid stuff out there.Last edited by Proximal; 04-17-2020 at 10:46 AM.

No apologies, great info. I just remember one or more of the doc's in this pandemic crap saying to avoid advil and stick to acetaminophen. I was in the grocery store after than it was all sold out. Still was as of today at my store.
Re IG, you'll like it. It's really where all the BB'ing and fitness people post stuff anymore.

Absolutely right about Tylenol, it reduces pain but it isn’t an anti-inflammatory.
AG gave me a link and for the life of me, not sure how I found it, but did and just now watched it.
Damn, that was so spot on, really incredible! He is so right, you either have that switch to turn the pain off or you don’t. If you don’t, there is no way you can get his point. I’ll take it a step further, you have to look forward to that pain. Granted, you must know when you take the pain (and damage) too far, but you have to seek it out and embrace it. The one thing I did fall in love with regarding HIT is the pain. Drop sets, slow negatives & forced reps are glorious.
I can’t do much free weights anymore because of what he was saying regarding his shoulder and it made me laugh. I can’t control something off the top shelf with that shoulder, but grab a handle and give me the right angle on a machine, bingo. Getting out of a chair, climbing the stairs and limping around the gym on a cane for a couple of years was worse than the workout itself. Got to tell you though, and I’m sure you’re aware, that pain sometimes gets too tiresome. Getting my hips replaced made me feel a dozen years younger. Actually tearing the rest of that RC off ain’t too bad actually, because no more pain, but I sure hope I can do something in the gym after I replace that shoulder.
TY Kel (and AG) for that video. It put a huge smile on my face and made me proud that I am part of that brotherhood. Not as an accomplished BB, but having put in the time & sacrifice. And, I’d do it again (but start AAS a hell of a lot sooner than 57, lol).Last edited by Proximal; 04-17-2020 at 04:39 PM.

I recall you mentioning hobbling down to your dungeon....think it was the hammie tear?
Walking down the stairs.....left, left, left. That had to suck on a major level.
When I tore my quad, it seemed like everything I needed from the grocery was on the bottom shelf. Couldn't have been a good picture. Old fat man doing a semi pistol squat trying to get the items from the back of the shelf. There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

4
Back a bit ago. 4 WS of 12-15 (to failure) each.
Rowing to mid chest
Low row to navel, palm up
Rear flies
Pull downs
Shrugs
Cardio was dusting & vacuuming the house while the wife was taking an 8 mile hike with her girlfriends. 8 miles, not my idea of fun! Would much rather clean.
Couple of protein bars and a Diet Pepsi, while the cat naps on my lap.

Oh yeah it sucked big time. Remember as well it was one tear followed by the other ham a couple months later, which was worse. I remember bitching to my PT that walking up my driveway (it's slanted a bit) really sucked. He waid to walk backwards. I thought he was joking but he wasn't. It worked. Probably looked quite hysterical to my neighbors....
